We are beyond excited about our new book and wanted to have a launch party. We thought about renting out some glitzy venue and decided that just wasn’t our style. It’s a book about making quilts, so where better to have the launch party than our studio?
That’s right. To celebrate Quilts Made Modern, we’ve decided to have an open house at our humble little studio in Oak Park, Illinois on Saturday, November 13 from 3-5pm. We’ll both be there. All of the quilts in the book will be there along with cases and cases of Quilts Made Modern. We get the books earlier than other retailers so this is a special opportunity. You can drop by with friends, spouses or kids for a cup of cider and some ginger snaps, see the book or just come to chat. There will be door prizes and we’ll take lots of pictures of the festivities.
We’ll sign books whether you buy them from us or not. We have hundreds of bolts of fabric as well as kits and patterns should you need some projects for the winter ahead. But mostly we’d like to offer you our hospitality and thanks for cheering us on. Every book is a big deal to us and there’s no one else we’d rather celebrate with than like-minded quilters. Do me a favor and sign up on the FunQuilts Facebook page or leave an RSVP in the comments section below so we have enough refreshments. FYI our studio is in the lower level of a 1914 bungalow so I apologize that it’s not ADA accessible.
In general our studio is closed to the public so this invitation is only for this date and time. Our address is 634 Carpenter Ave. The number to the studio is (708) 445-1817. Our home and studio are located on the Northeast corner of Carpenter and Adams. It’s a tan bungalow surrounded by lots of plantings. If you’re coming by public transportation, we’re closest to the Oak Park station on the Blue Line. If you’re up for a walk, the Green Line works too. Parking is plentiful but you’ll need to follow the signs to find the studio once you get to the corner of Carpenter and Adams. We’ll have signs out but the studio entrance is off Adams. The studio is located DOWNSTAIRS not up. We won’t be able to hear you if you ring the doorbell to our home, which is upstairs.
Look forward to seeing you then!
Would lOVE to be there, but too far from Australia I’m afraid :-)…Best wishes for the launch and I look forward to getting the book.
Also best wishes for the launch. Question about the pub date: Amazon has the book available in mid-December now. Will it be in stores earlier? Would love to be sending as Christmas gifts…
@Alma – I don’t think it will be in stores earlier. As authors we get it a month before everyone else but we’d be happy to gift wrap it and send it directly for you if that would be helpful.
sounds perfect!! so sad I’m too far (México)!!
I would love to be there!!
I’m still waiting that book!!!
Weeks and Bill,
I plan to come with friends who have already navigated FB to RSVP.
I am very excited for you and wish you much success with the book and your next venture!

i wish i could make the trip– have a wonderful night!
Sounds like a wonderful event! Unfortunately, between children’s plans and distance, I won’t be able to make it.
I pre-ordered you book through Amazon & I am not close enough to Illinois to stop in. Yay & Damn in the same post.
I’ll be there in spirit!!! Have a wonderful open house!
See you then — what a great idea for a launch party!
Big time Congratulations on your book. Can’t come from California for the party though. Have a wonderful time with your guests. Like others I look forward to buying the book from your website.
It looks like it’s a lovely book! I’m looking forward to getting a copy, but not at your launch since I’m in Seattle. Congratulations and enjoy!
I hope to come if real life does not throw in a monkey wrench.
Hi Weeks and Bill –
Would not miss the party for your wonderful book! I think it will be just me. Yvonne
I would love to win a copy of the magazine. Thank you.
Count me in! And I am bringing a friend. I just moved to the chicago area and am so happy to be able to make this.
